Black Mountain Trail
Trailhead for this trail is at the Continental Parking lot off of Hwy 149, 26 miles northwest of Creede. This trail is a loop trail that intersects with trails groomed by the Lake City Continental Divide Snowmobile Club to get back to the trailhead. Trail winds through heavy timber and opens up into several parks as you work your way to the top of the trail which opens up to a big park and some boondocking takes you to some great vistas.
Trail Report
The trail was groomed and marked on 2/12/24. Good snow conditions on trail. Off trail does come with some challenges from low snow and wind sculpting.
BRISTOL HEAD
This trail is good for beginners as well as experienced riders. The groomed trail is well marked and easy to follow. There are many meadows to play in as well as some steeper areas for climbing. The views are incredible and wildlife sightings are possible. Approximately halfway up this trail is a cut-off that crosses Table Mountain and accesses the Spring Creek Trail.
Trail Report
The trail was groomed to the base of Bristol Head. There is finally enough snow to get to the top of Bristol Head but just tracks, no tiller. Snow is good in the trees and on the road. Snow is not good close to the top and in the unprotected open meadows. More snow so off trail is getting better.
LOVE LAKE
This trail follows a road and is great for all experience levels. There are play areas in the last two miles as you near the end of the trail. The end of this trail borders the Weminuche Wilderness boundary so it is important not to cross the marked boundary. This trail is popular with families because of its ease of riding and areas to picnic and play.
Trail Report
This trail was freshly groomed on 2/19/24. Trail conditions are great. Off trail conditons are good. A fair amount of snow has accumulated. Best riding in the area.
SPRING CREEK TO CREEDE
This trail can be accessed from both ends of the trail. One parking area is up Forest Service Rd 504 from Creede (Homestake Road on the west side of Creede) approximately 2.5 miles. The other access is from the Spring Creek parking area located approximately 40 miles southwest of Creede. The majority of the trail is for more experienced riders. There are lots of play areas all along the trail, both meadow and steep areas. There is a marked cut-off trail that crosses Table Mountain and accesses the Bristol Head trail. This trail also connects with trails groomed by Lake City.
Trail Report
There is enough snow to ride but too late in the season to get it ready.
